Ian Ross, is running for School Board Director for the Marple Newtown School District. He is a Delco native and moved back to the area when his wife and he started their family. Ian’s daughter is in 1st grade at Culbertson Elementary and his son is about to begin Kindergarten this fall. Ian is running to protect and support the Marple Newtown School District so that all children in the area have a safe, fun, and top-notch education. Ian’s priorities and experience are are follows:
Teaching Job
- Ian holds 7 years as a high school science teacher in Illinois and Pennsylvania
- Ian has first hand experience with the modern stresses facing students, families, faculty, and administrators
- Ian is interested in bridging divides and focused on solutions that benefit children in the school district
Workforce Readiness Job
- Ian has 3 years in workforce development for young adults
- Ian has lead training in forestry, stormwater infrastructure maintenance, carpentry, and ecological restoration
- Ian has a wide range of competencies that relate to School Director including: vehicle fleet management, tool inventory/purchasing, writing/teaching curriculum, and fieldwork scope/scheduling
- Ian is experience in building relationships with municipal agencies, non-profit organizations, and industry professionals
