EDWARD Madrak

Candidate for Marple Newtown School Director

Edward Madrak, is running for School Director of the Marple Newtown School District. He grew up in Drexel Hill and returned to Delaware County in 2022 with his wife and two sons after 16 years working in Silicon Valley, California. Edward’s professional background includes roles in technology and operations management, but his most valuable experience comes from raising two wonderful children, one with ADHD and the other with Autism.

Parenting children with special needs taught him firsthand the importance of strong public schools, specialized support programs, and responsive, inclusive education policies. Navigating the complexities of special education services, particularly Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), transformed him into an enthusiastic advocate for accessible, tailored education for all children. Through close collaboration with teachers and school administrators, Edward has seen the difference dedicated educational support makes in children's lives.

If elected, Edward’s priority is ensuring that schools embrace and support every student's unique needs, while strengthening transparency and communication between parents, educators, and district leadership. His goal is simple: to help create an educational environment where every child feels valued, understood, and empowered.

Professional Background

After graduating from Upper Darby High School, Edward attended Delaware County Community College before launching his career at Wawa in Drexel Hill. There, Edward discovered his passion for technology and operations management, quickly progressing from store-level responsibilities into corporate roles, including a key position on Wawa’s helpdesk—supporting stores and resolving customer concerns.

Building on this experience, Edward went on to hold technology and operational roles at several prominent companies, including SAP America in Newtown Square, FAO Schwarz’s corporate headquarters in King of Prussia, and Deloitte & Touche in Glen Mills.

In 2006, Edward  joined a Silicon Valley startup as a software engineer and currently serves as the Director of Hosting and Operations. In this role, Edward oversees IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and compliance. Additionally, as Chief Compliance Officer, he ensures organizational practices meet stringent regulatory standards—a responsibility requiring transparency, diligence, and accountability.

Edward’s professional journey has consistently involved solving complex challenges, managing resources effectively, and fostering clear communication—skills that he will leverage on behalf of students, parents, and staff as a member of the Marple Newtown School Board.

Continuing education

Edward’s career path has been non-traditional, driven by firsthand experience, self-directed learning, and practical problem-solving. Although he pursued coursework toward a degree in cybersecurity, Edward made the deliberate decision to prioritize professional and family commitments, gaining expertise through direct experience and continuous learning in technology, operations, and compliance. This unconventional journey has instilled in him resilience, adaptability, and the conviction that success comes from hard work, curiosity, and dedication—not solely from formal credentials.

Key Issues and Positions

Edward’s key priorities as a school director will include strengthening the district’s cybersecurity practices, ensuring that the schools effectively protect students' sensitive information and privacy in an increasingly digital world.

Edward is also deeply committed to breaking the outdated "one-size-fits-all" approach to education. Every student has unique needs, talents, and ways of learning; the Marple Newtown School District  must embrace personalized, inclusive strategies that empower all children, especially those with special educational requirements—to succeed and thrive.

Finally, transparency, open dialogue, and active collaboration among parents, teachers, administrators, and the school board are essential. Edward  pledges to advocate strongly for educators and families alike, ensuring their voices and concerns are genuinely heard and effectively addressed.

Edward feels that together a safer, more responsive, and supportive educational environment for every student in the Marple Newtown School District can be created.

Community Commitment

Edward’s commitment to the Marple Newtown community stems from personal experience. Returning home to Delaware County with his family has deepened his understanding that thriving public schools are essential for strong communities. Edward’s advocacy is rooted in direct experience navigating educational systems for his children with special needs—this experience inspires him to foster deeper relationships among parents, educators, and administrators. Open communication and transparency are critical in building trust, resolving concerns, and achieving educational excellence.

Vision and Goals

Edward envisions a district where every child, regardless of their learning style or educational challenges, receives the support they need to flourish. His primary goals include:

  • Strengthening cybersecurity measures district-wide to ensure student privacy and safety.
  • Expanding resources and specialized support for students with special educational needs.
  • Promoting flexible and personalized learning strategies rather than outdated, rigid educational approaches.
  • Increasing transparency and collaboration within the district by creating clearer, more responsive communication channels between parents, teachers, and school administrators.

Edward’s vision is for Marple Newtown School District to be an example of educational excellence, inclusivity, and innovation.

Authenticity and Motivation

Edwwrd did not enter this race as a career politician—he chose to run because his experiences as a parent and community member compel him to advocate for meaningful change. As someone who struggled with untreated ADD as a child and now navigates parenting children with special needs, Edward’s motivation is deeply personal. These experiences have shaped his conviction that schools must meet every student’s unique needs, ensuring no child feels misunderstood, overlooked, or undervalued. Edward’s campaign is driven by the sincere belief that enthusiastic advocacy, paired with practical leadership, can transform educational outcomes for all our children.
